Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer short term as well as long term?
Short term work, in my experience, is a good way to explore one major issue that you're facing. I have experience of working short term in the NHS, where 8 sessions were offered, and then a review of our work together. Longer term work enables us to go into feelings, patterns and behaviours more deeply.
How long are sessions, and how frequent?
All sessions last 50 minutes, usually once weekly. If there's a longer gap between sessions, we can end up playing catch up. You also may be left with some difficult feelings which can be explored when we meet the next week.
What does a session cost?
The fee is £85 per session advance of our session via bank transfer.
Do we just talk? How am I going to feel better?
We do create space to talk about your past and the feelings that surface, but we'll also look at what's going on for you right now and explore ways to change behaviours, patterns and beliefs that could be holding you back. I don't give advice or try to "fix" things, but together, we can create choices for you. Having got to know yourself better, through talking things through, and becoming more aware of what's getting in the way of your life, we can look at what you'd like to change and how you can move forward to a happier, more "lived" life.
What do I need for an online session?
Your computer or mobile needs to be set up with Zoom before the session commences. This includes having your microphone and video turned on.
Make sure you're in a quiet space with good lighting, where you can speak freely, you will not be disturbed for the duration of the session and that the door to the room you are sitting in is closed.
For your own comfort, you have a box of tissues and a glass of water nearby, and your mobile is on silent or switched off.
For my part, the contract remains the same as face to face, that the session lasts for 50 minutes and the session is confidential. Payment for the session is made by bank transfer beforehand.
